[Poem] Timo Schmitz: “You seem to be happy” (2013)

You seem to be happy,

But is it really possible that someone like you is really happy?

You have many friends,

But don’t you see they are not your real friends?

You have a lonely life,

But I was always supporting you,

So why you can’t realize all these things,

Such a fruitful day it brings.

I see you hurt yourself when you are alone,

How can’t you see that I am the only one who really helps you?

You don’t want to see,

You pretend to hate me.

Someone asked me something about you today,

In this moment I just didn’t know what shall I say,

I rescued your honour, but I still just can pray,

That you finally realize it and honour me.

They all know what I think about you,

I don’t mind what they think about it,

Whatever some people might say – I will get through,

I just can’t stop to help you.

You never deserved my feelings,

Everyone told me bad things about you,

I never cared – and just smiled,

Satisfying you, my hope never died.

All I received was your heartless ignorance,

For all my tries, I never had an insurance,

I did it for you, from my very deep heart,

You messed it up, you are not smart.

Now go your own way, I will go the mine,

Whatever you want, it’ll be thine,

But never ask me to get you out,

Even if you scream so loud.
